Springdale Hills, like many East Austin neighborhoods, is in transition. In the past, this section of town was not favored by locals, but it has, in recent years, undertaken a significant change. Well-kept front yards, new faces, and young families signal a community in the midst of an evolution.

Springdale Hills was first developed in the mid 1960's. A secondary phase was built in the late 1980's, and another in the late 1990's. The latter phases are situated in the section known as Fort View Hills.
