Travis Country real estate is also incredibly close to downtown—closer even than most south Austin neighborhoods—just a fifteen minute jaunt up Mopac Expressway.
Travis Country caters, not only to families, but to all sorts of homeowners who require the peace and serenity of a less-urban environment without sacrificing the nearness of all that urban life provides.
What kind of houses and lots are in Travis Country?
First developed in the early 1970s, development in Travis Country has continued in phases ever since they first broke ground. Homes there are most often built of a combination of native stone or brick and wood/frame construction, built on slab foundations.
One-story floor plans are much more common in Travis Country than two-story configurations. Three and four bedroom homes are about equally common, though slightly-less-common five bedroom homes can also be found there.
They are usually of generous size, both in terms of lot size and in square footage. Most homes in Travis Country fall in the range of 1,700 square feet to 3,500 square feet of living space, but larger and smaller homes can also be found there. Lots typically fall in the .20 acre to .25 acre range, allowing for generous yards.
What should I expect to spend for a house in Travis Country?
Real estate prices in Travis Country range from the high $200,000s to the low $500,000s, depending on the age of the structure, the condition, interior finish-out, the precise location within the community, and square footage.
Most Travis County homes are priced between $300,000 and $400,000.
At the time of this writing, the average recent home sale would be a 1992-built, three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home with two living areas, an attached two car garage, and 2,400 square feet of living space—selling for $341,000 (roughly $147.00 per square foot).
What's close to Travis Country? (Dining, shopping, entertainment, athletics)

It often comes as a surprise to newcomers—the tremendous variety of options lie just beyond the secluded atmosphere of Travis Country. Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, grocery stores, banks, gyms, and restaurants of every possible flavor are nearby.
And all the famed history, fun, music, and nightlife of downtown Austin is only a short fifteen minutes away.
Within the community itself are two “amenity areas” with fenced and lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, swimming pools, and picnic and cook-out areas. Travis Country has their own swim team for kids. Connecting the two areas is the Sycamore Creek Nature Trail, a 1.5 mile long trail, frequented by residents looking for a taste of the outdoors.
Because Travis Country is also bordered by the famed Barton Creek Greenbelt, there are plenty of other opportunities for hiking, trail riding—even jogging and swimming.
